Episode 27 · The Healer's Journey

How to Feel Supported Without Earning It (A Reiki Perspective for Healers)

If you've ever felt like support has to be earned — through overgiving, self-sacrifice, or endless effort — this episode is for you. As a healer, your nervous system wasn't meant to carry everyone else's energy. What if the earth could hold it for you? What if you didn't need to be perfect to be supported? Why it's so hard to feel supported

Many intuitive, service-oriented women carry a deep subconscious belief: support must be earned. We offer help before it's asked for. We overextend. We ignore our own needs until we collapse. This isn't just burnout — it's an inherited nervous-system pattern that equates self-worth with usefulness.

Even learning Reiki — a modality centered on receiving — we can struggle. We want to do it right. We question our intuition. Our body tenses instead of opening. Because somewhere along the line we learned: to receive, you must first give.

The earth is always supporting you

Here's the radical truth that changes everything: you are already being supported. Gravity is proof. The earth doesn't ask you to be perfect before she holds you. When you begin to practice Reiki — or any energy work — it's deeply healing to first attune to this: the earth beneath you is steady, holding, compassionate. You don't need to convince it you're worthy. Begin not with effort, not with fixing, but with allowing.

The role of the pelvic floor in receiving

Many healers hold tension in the pelvic floor — a subtle clenching that mirrors the emotional bracing we've done for years. Releasing that contraction can open a floodgate of sensation and emotion. It may feel scary at first; we practice slowly, gently, with love. Reiki channels energy from the earth, up through the feet, blending in the heart, and out through the hands — but we can't channel what we don't allow. Letting the energy rise begins by letting the body soften.

You're not supposed to hold it all

A healer who lasts — who doesn't burn out, shut down, or disappear — is one who knows how to release. Not everything is yours to carry. The grief and chaos we witness in clients isn't meant to lodge in our tissues; the earth can transmute it, like compost, like breath. You don't need to fix it. You just need to practice, again and again, the art of being held.
